SDN has many advantages, such as flexibility, easiness for management, security. However, its adoption evolves slowly in companies which have deployed their businesses on top of traditional Data Center Networks. The killer reason is that the stability and consistency of the businesses have to be guaranteed. Therefore, those companies hesitate to make changes, such as modifying hardware configuration or even changing the IP addresses of the services.

In this proposal, Honghui will introduce the practice of building high-performance SDN in a hyper-scale Data Center, which has had millions of services built on a traditional network. However, the practice doesn’t require changes to hardware or services, so the services can switch between SDN and traditional network smoothly. Moreover, Honghui will share the experience of how Open Networking, such as OpenStack, GoBGP, EVPN, make things happen.
