NFV and/or SDN have been terms bouncing around the industry for a number of years, but the practical application of virtualized network functions has yet to be realized in scale deployments except for the largest most advanced service providers. This is primarily due to the highly diverse needs of service providers and the lack of easy to deploy solutions. Many service providers are looking for more open source based solutions to enable Firewalls, Load Balancers and Security Gateways in a cost effective manner. In this presentation Jay and M Jay will present a solution for Load Balancers based on open source software and commercial off the shelf hardware based on Intel Architecture. The solutions leverage open source projects such as DPVS, DPDK, FD.io and Envoy to create robust purpose built L2 through L7 load balancers.
