Edge is an exciting and emerging space for deploying small clouds and kubernetes clusters close to the user. Reducing latency, improving performance and enabling new use cases in industrial, health care and networking environments. The increase in bandwidth, and reduced latency of 5G, when married together with cloud native technologies enable these new use cases. The reality of 1000's of distributed clouds is a real challenge that will be explored.

StarlingX is a project that brings together a full-featured cloud stack solution for the distributed Edge.

This talk will provide an update on the progress the StarlingX community is making on enabling these use cases with working code. We will describe the current capabilities and future direction of the project. Interactions with other open source projects will be explored such as OpenStack, Kubernetes, and Akraino.
