Gerhard Wieser

Gerhard is the CEO and co-founder of FRINX.io a company focused on open source network automation. FRINX.io was founded in 2016 and works with Fortune Global 500 customers to provide products and solutions for workflow, inventory and network control. Gerhard was previously a Senior Director with Cisco Systems, where he was responsible for the design and rollout of AT&T’s global IP/MPLS backbone and business service edge network. During his tenure at Cisco, he also led a team of distinguished engineers to deploy new technology and create new products for Cisco. He received a patent award from the US Patent and Trademark Office for his work on “SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR COMPRESSING MESSAGE HEADERS”. He co-wrote a book on MPLS VPNs for Prentice Hall/Pearson Education (“MPLS-Based VPNs: Designing Advanced Virtual Networks”). He was a contributor to the “OPERATIONALIZATION OF SOFTWARE-DEFINED NETWORKS (SDN) PROGRAM REVIEW”, conducted by the National Science Foundation and Department of Energy. He gave presentations at industry events like ONS, ONUG, Cisco Live and many others. He organizes regular meetups in Europe to bring engineers together that share an interest in the evolution of networking. Gerhard lives in Vienna, Austria.
